coordinated ep presents two tracks relating to two different spots, so two different atmospheres. whereas 51°54 01.6-n 4°28-05.0-e corresponds with the maastunel in rotterdam that connects the banks of the nieuwe maas, 51°54 33.0-n 4°29-13.7-e matches the erasmusbrug (erasmus bridge), a combinedcable-stayed and bascule bridge in the center of rotterdam connecting the north and the south parts of the city. whereas the a-side presents a techno and trippy side, the b-side reveals a more atmospheric and percussive one. in summary, both tracks are quite linear, a linearity that hypnotises and sucks the listener up till bringing him in a trance that makes him feeling in another dimension.

(rather than a mere dub, this is almost an entirely different jump-up disco track) and a bonus firecracker skit.

irishman brendan gregory aka chymera has become an integral part of the international club scene. this techno and house productions are based on his skilful way to incorporate different styles and genres such as minimal techno and even the trance, which leads to a very own and surpreme handwriting. like his mentor and friend funk dvoid or like his fellow cocoon recordings colleague tim green, chymera appears to one of the few artists who can be assigned to a very own and recognizable sound.

after a 10 year absence, portugals question of time records returns in 2012 with brand new vinyl and digital releases. the label was a hugely influential house and techno imprint in the mid 1990s, with everyone from sven väth to carl cox, laurent garnier, mr. c, tony humphries, and dj pippi having supported its groundbreaking releases in the early days. the labels first release of 2012 comes from qot label boss and long-serving portuguese dj hero j. daniel. the >change it< ep features four wildly different mixes of daniels new single. one of the mixes comes from the co-founder of the new qot - ambient house techno experimentalist aqob. overall the package is an entirely absorbing, intelligent and unique club ep that is impossible to categorise. it firmly sits outside the realms of todays club trends.

a side track ‘’1840&#8242,’ (feat. contrapunct) is the result of taking a violin built by jean-baptiste vuillaume in the year 1840, played by our in-house virtuoso now known as contrapunct and making a sample kit / sound kit with it yes, this means all the sounds you hear on this song are sourced from an old and beautiful violin. using original recordings combined with different manipulation techniques, the trio deliver to the plate over 12 minutes of intensity. one can explain it like this perhaps……….. you are high in the blue sky walking a high wire over an ocean of beautiful coral reef, still maintaining balance, but looking down at the view beneath and thinking- “if i got to go- there cannot be much better ways!

all good things take time, aussteiger said once. and indeed, it took a serious amount of time to get everything set for what soon will be known as dub disco s first release! we’ve been digging deep inside his tune collection. not only to make sure that the first three-tracker is a belter, but that it also showcases exactly the kind of musical approach we wanted as our personal imprint: to hell with a boring and homogeneous release that only represents one genre! we were looking for something that stands for itself, something that tells a story, something that is representative for what the artist stands for in a musical sense. and after a tedious quest, we carefully curated something we think is dope! kicking off the number one is a track disclosing the joint forces of berlin-based collective of musicians los wawis and aussteiger s capabilities as a remixer. here appears a psychedelic version of the track, which is carried by gentle guitars, a dubby bassline as well as the funky-trippy synthesizers that usher a tropical vibe onto the dancefloors. the starter on the flip is entitled “heimat” and comes around as a melancholic interpretation of aussteiger’s time in exile, a period that enabled him to craft his very own style. there is not much to say about this bomb that the ear doesn t catch instantly: this one is an honest earworm, with it s irresistibly arranged horns and a pervasive and driving bassline. to finish everything off, we went for a nasty banger, that carefully blends different aspects of the raving side of dance music. the electrifying broken beat and it’s haunting bassline are blended with an intense influence of acid.

the hidden meaning of number 13 is change, the death of something and its rebirth. this is the idea behind gabriel dor & bordoys new album 13, which is meant to be a turning point on their career. influenced by old school techno but also by modern sounds, after 6 years of production partnership, theyve decided to release their first entirely unpublished lp. the album, made out of 13 cuts, starts with a dark intro that paves the way into a forceful kind of techno, followed by vintage sounds with gloomy touches and sometimes even emotional ones. they have used many instruments and samples discovered along the way on this composition process, plus lots of others found in the previous years. the sounds put together on this album have been carefully picked to preserve their uniqueness, while trying to walk on a different path.

people must jam s ninth record is from one of our favourite djs and producers. a guy who has a ridiculously large back catalogue and in our opinion it is a crime that some of his records haven t received bigger recognition. a true master of house and hip hop music, kid sublime has been putting out amazing records since 2001. his own label dopeness galore literally does exactly what it says on the tin. even before we launched people must jam s label we wanted kid sublime to be a part of it. now finally we are stoked to present this ep... four serious cuts for four different vibed floors - look out! first up kid s homage to techno legend ben sims with bang like sims a driving deep techno groove. strong percussion, deep stabs and that unrelenting beat are going to ensure this one gets some love on the harder edged, heavier dance floors. we the people heads a little down the tribal route with some afro inspired percussion, haunting samples and that kalimba! dropping a really infectious riff before beautiful piano melodies drift in and out of the mix. wonderful stuff. the title track i like em dirty , we feel, is a lesson in proper deep house. classic sounding house beats, little guitar licks, deep stabs and the vocal sample combine for this perfect house cut. massive. the ep is rounded out with another cut in tribute to the legend that was kenny hawkes. another master of his craft - kenny sadly now passed on but his spirit is well and truly alive in this fitting tribute. one 4 kenny features strong percussion, low bass, deep stabs and slamming beats = cracking stuff

the russian artist mobile soul system brings his classy, elegant minimal deep house to red panda music, one of the new labels from barcelona, getting quite a lot of praise and attention. pure underground sound supported by laurent garnier, sidney charles, pawsa, hermanez and many others. four different cuts that can suit the mood of many different club situations along a sophisticated and cool house vibe.

another fine reissue of a chicago classic from jeff craven and his large music imprint focusing again on the dynamic artistic team of black ice productions. first released in 1992 on velvet city records, the black ice ep treads more into a deeper and jazzier vibes than their other outings at that time (such as the union camp release). a few listens and one can easily recognize the influence that all four tracks had on future labels and artists throughout the mid and late 1990 s. this is timeless, pioneering chicago deep house at its finest and a must have for all collectors.

deep love is the first vinyl release by stefano pozzi, dj producer and musician. it’s very difficult to define his sound: his creative process led him to merge several genres in a very original way. the artist shows us a great talent combining different electronic styles from deep house to soulful house, new jazz and chill out music. stefano is also a guitar player. with his releases, he shows us how to bring guitar sounds together with electronic music in a brilliant way. in this 12 inch ep, that could be defined as deep house, the artist has worked to merge various elements of house music: the warm sound of a moog organ with a deep drum kick, the use of hypnotic and rhythmic vocal samples, the presence of many jazz and soul contaminations due to the acoustic guitar.

after putting the band on the map with their first ep two years ago, the band feathered sun has grown into a life of its own. the more live sets they have played, the better they have defined their style. they are spearheading a brand of sound healing music abstractly narrative, always poetic, sometimes flirting with darkness but always perfectly produced to carry the audience into their own world. feathered sun are the collaborative experiment of nu, jo.ke, raz ohara, chris schwarzwaelder, iannis ritter and acid pauli johannes laumer. each have active and flourishing solo artist careers, albeit still have time to collaborate with one another. the six-strong collective are a close-knit troupe who are primarily based in berlin and lima, peru. live improvisation is ultimately what brought the feathered sun project to life - they are open about their laidback, impromptu approach and this is apparent throughout this ep. side a was primarily crafted in peru by chris schwarzwaelder and jo.ke with raz ohara’s mesmerising vocals. the end material was then sent to nu in berlin who crafted two tracks out of it. the ‘bulbo’ ep shows a willingness to explore different approaches within the collective and the music showcases their long-standing affiliation. it is a downtempo ep that has immaculate instrumentation, dreamy pads and brooding vocals throughout. this is intertwined with organic sounds and moody atmospheric melodies, gives the release a timeless and emotive ambience.

baldos next ep is released on good ratio music, the label run by himself and his buddy carlo. as far as we remember the barcelona based producer had always an affinity for dirty drum-machines rhythms and buzzing analog sounds. baldo can be recognised by his choice of style, a fierce and confident house, pure in intent and effective in execution. and this is exactly what you should expect in this new ep. for the eighth instalment of the label they have the remix coming directly from nyc. the boss of lets play house, jacques renault has remixed the change, giving to the track a whole different mind to the track and making a round ep, ready to roll this summer.

planet rhythm is steadily outing material these days. the next in the string of releases is a va by planet rhythm usual suspects robert s, deepbass & repart, jamie haus and dubiosity. 4 versatile techno cuts that each showcase a different sound within the techno spectrum.

british producer reformed society is on a steadfast mission to dig deeper by going against the grain, standing up to the status quo and daring to do something different. a self proclaimed goal that is easily noticeable in his first release for “made of concrete”, wherein he reveals three original tracks and a remix by gathaspar, one of the label’s regulars. kicking things off with “high tension”, a high strung stripped back piece with an aerial feel, the artist builds up the entire mood of the ep from scratch. a clear-cut, steady groove whose versatility makes it relevant as an intro, outro or interlude. gathaspar’s rausch remix is a sub-bassy reinterpretation of the initial piece, filled with contorted whirs and whizzes that give the track a sub- aquatic feel. on “volgende halte”, the opening vocal sample shifts from a seemingly conventional soundbite to a recurringly haunting snippet that remains etched into the listener’s brain. rhythmical rolling pads galvanize the groove, making for an eerie yet relaxed overall vibe. movement inducing from the get go, final offering “orbiting jupiter” centers around wavering bass leads, while playing on a blend of spacious synths and timbered percussion patterns.

already three years after his third album, vitalic is back on jennifer cardini’s records label correspondant records with two original new tracks. often unclassifiable, but always efficient, vitalic shouts out and restyles his universe under many different ways. after having mixed electro music to rock, to disco and then to pop in the course of his three albums, « film noir » ep invites us to a spatial journey. unusual, unknow, fascinating, powerfull and sometimes dark , this project defines itself as a cold disco. his own and recognizable esthetic shows here two of his multiple faces : ‚film noir’ will remind absorbing universe of german sound of 90’s : a techno and slow kick, a spatial slicks and a worrying mental melody. ‚ooey’, a sort of hallucinated electro pop joined by some chorists, without forgetting lady disco despite of its new wave bass.

shlomo opens the ep with a deep and droning, yet uptempo track. ben gibson continues on the a-side with a synth and tom-driven track, in which the main synth really draws you into the track. takaaki itoh is put on the b1 spot and continues the deep vibe the artists set on the a-side, yet in a more minimalistic way. his track keeps on evolving and growing ever more, while the track in it s core does not change that much. overall severity closes the ep off with a moody banger. this dance floor oriented track focuses on percussive elements and the drums a lot. this track is one of the last ones made by the late max_m, who formed overall severity together with wrong asessment, which makes this ep a little bit more special. four different artists, but a great sounding ep with four tracks that compliment each other really well!

paul woolford returns to hotflush with mother & child, his third solo outing on the label following the inescapable anthems,untitled and mdma. mother & child sees woolford explore a different style and more cultivated mood. comprised of two variations on a theme, the lead cut combines both sostenuto and clipped strings in an overarching and evolving melody. theres a sense of menace and foreboding, yet the record’s heart belongs, as ever, strongly to woolfords home turf - the dance floor. this newfound contemplative air is brought to the fore on mother & child divided as he strips back all rhythmic elements to leave a beautifully sprawling tapestry of strings and synth alluring, dramatic and cinematic in scope. one hopes this mother and child find each other again.

karen gwyer and beatrice dillon join forces for a limited 12- release on alien jams. both artists find themselves deeply ingrained in london s vibrant electronics scene, however these two musicians approach their sound from two distinctly different angles. dillon s -curl- combines synthesised percussive effects with dubby analogue tones - maintaining the avant garde sensibilities of her blues dances 12- on where to now? - while the synths of gwyer s -common soundproofing myths- wail like sirens before falling into intoxicating acid territory. please note that this is a vinyl release only.

basil & rogers is a sleazy, california disco duo made up of heru (dj) johnny basil and body rogers. basil, a multi-instrumentalist, long-time record collector, and energy healer is a man that s been making music for a long time under many different guises and in many different styles. heru avenger (acid/psych rock), non stop (electronic/free jazz), baast (kraut rock/jazz funk), and kandi jones (slut rock) are just a few of his projects, past and present. most of this music has been around for the entirety of the 90 s and 2000 s without being heard because despite basil s outspoken appearance (described by many as looking like iggy pop s twin brother and would never be caught wearing a t-shirt no matter the location) he s very quiet about his musical output. body rogers is also part of the non stop group and is a master of electronics and engineering. on the basil & rogers project the two have made a disco 12- that is influenced by classic-era dance music while still being completely unique and far from conforming. it s crazy, it s sexy, and it s sleazy. tune in .

following last summers acclaim ruede hagelsteins long player apophenia, we once again revisit the album, this time with a few stunning remixes from the drifter, can be love synth, and ruede himself of the hugely popular footprints feat. c.a.r.. up first is the drifter and he turns out what may be his best remix to date with a swelling, emotional ride that will most definitely be an anthem for the coming summer. taking a different approach, yet just as engaging, ruede reworks his original into a dark, looping psychedelic odyssey perfect for late nights or early mornings. can love be synth rounds out the remixes with a gorgeous pop-esque twist on the original choosing to focus on live instrumentation and retro synthesis resulting in a cross-over favorite. and finally, for all the times you want the vibe without the vocal, a dub version of the original gem.
